Why this site exists
You’re staring at a dying plant—maybe it’s a houseplant you’ve had for months, or a seedling that just wilted after you watered it. The leaves are yellowing, the soil smells off, and you don’t know if you’re overwatering, underwatering, or just cursed.
The advice online is either too vague or sells you something you don’t need.
This site exists to cut through that. No fluff, no upsells. Just the practical steps to fix what’s broken, the real reasons things grow (or don’t), and the small details that make the difference between a thriving plant and another sad pot on the windowsill.
Who writes this site
Cecilia Castellano is the person behind *Plant Care Home*—she’s the one who’s repotted more pots than she can count and still forgets to water her snake plant.
Do you test everything before writing about it?
Yes. If it’s a tip, I’ve tried it—sometimes more than once. If it’s a plant, I’ve either grown it myself or asked someone who has. No ‘expert says’ without proof.
What do you get wrong?
I’ve killed more ferns than I’d like to admit, and I still don’t know why my basil bolts so fast. But I’ll own the mistake and fix it—no ‘trust me’ here.
Why isn’t that specific plant/tip here?
Either I haven’t grown it yet, or it’s something I don’t believe in (like ‘miracle-gro’ for everything). If you’ve got a request, ask—we might add it.

How a plant guide is built
It starts with a problem: a yellow leaf, a stunted growth, a plant that won’t flower. Not with ‘this is what healthy looks like,’ but with ‘here’s what’s actually happening to yours.’
The conditions check
Light, water, soil, and temperature. These are the four things that change every time you move a plant—even by an inch. We measure them first, not last. A ‘sun-loving’ plant in your shade? That’s not the plant’s fault.
The fix list
No ‘wait and see.’ If the roots are rotting, we say so. If the solution is ‘move it,’ we tell you where—not ‘somewhere sunnier’ but ‘a south-facing window, 3 feet from the glass.’
What we will not do
We won’t sell you soil or seeds or ‘premium’ anything. We won’t pretend every plant thrives in the same conditions. And we won’t ignore the fact that some plants are just harder to keep alive than others.
Things you will never find here
- ‘Best plants for beginners’ lists that ignore humidity or light.
- Photos of plants that look nothing like what you’ll get in a local nursery.
- Advice that works only if you live in a greenhouse or have a PhD in botany.
- Upsells disguised as tips (like ‘you *need* this $50 tool’).
Where to start
Start with the ‘Troubleshooting’ section if your plant is already struggling. Use the ‘Plant Profiles’ if you’re picking something new—we list the conditions, not just the name. And if you can’t find what you need, the search bar works, but so does asking on the contact page.
